Critical infrastructures are defined as …

. . those systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.

The Department of Homeland Security defines the Eighteen Critical Infrastructures:

5.Communications
6.Critical Manufacturing
7.Dams
8.Defense Industrial Base
9.Emergency Services
10.Energy
11.Government Facilities
12.Healthcare and Public Health
13.Information Technology
14.National Monuments and Icons
15.Nuclear Reactors, Materials and Waste
16.Postal and Shipping
17.Transportation Systems
18.Water
